What It Is

Airbrush makeup is makeup that has a fine pigment size that is applied with an air mechanism. Some regular makeup, like foundation, can be made to use in an airbrush machine by adding a little water to it.
The brush itself sprays a fine mist onto the skin using what is called a craft tip or needle. The tip sprays a pattern two inches in diameter at about six inches from the skin. It costs around $100 and is powered by an air source. The air source can be as simple as a shop air compressor or as unusual as a scuba tank.

Expense

Airbrush makeup is quite a bit more expensive than regular makeup. The price depends on whether the makeup is already premixed or needs to be manually mixed. Formulas that require the user to premix are usually less expensive.

Advantages

Some of the advantages of using airbrush makeup are that you can give it the properties that are needed for certain circumstances. An at home kit can be bought online or at beauty supply stores. These usually come with how-to DVDs and books. Doing it yourself usually does not require any artistic ability as long as the instructions are followed to a tee. For the most part, airbrush makeup is not practical for personal use because it is hard to spray one’s self without getting makeup in the eyes.
